Directorate of Communications hosts 41 international journalists from 21 countries in Türkiye for 10th anniversary of 15 July

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day, the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications is hosting 41 international journalists from 21 countries—including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Korea, Morocco, Ethiopia, Poland, South Africa, Kazakhstan, Qatar, Nigeria, Montenegro, Uzbekistan, Mozambique, Senegal, Tanzania, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC)—as part of the 15 July International Media Programme, which will be held in Ankara and İstanbul.

The programme, scheduled for 15–17 July, aims to provide international journalists with the opportunity to examine first-hand the events surrounding the attempted coup of 15 July 2016, gain a closer understanding of Türkiye’s struggle to defend its democracy, and receive comprehensive briefings on the country’s fight against FETO.

As part of the Ankara programme, participants will first visit the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), where they will be briefed on the events that unfolded at the TRT headquarters during the coup attempt. They will then visit the 15 July Democracy Museum at the Presidential Complex. International media representatives will also attend the 10th Anniversary Commemoration Programme of the 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day, where they will observe the commemorative events first-hand.

The programme will continue with visits in İstanbul. Following a presentation and briefing session hosted by the İstanbul Governor's Office, participants will visit the 15 July Memory Museum.

Through the programme, the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications aims to contribute to a more comprehensive and direct understanding of the events of 15 July among the international community and to enhance global awareness of Türkiye’s struggle to defend its democracy.
