Ulf Kristersson, the new Prime Minister of Sweden, sent a letter to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressing his willingness to visit Ankara.
The newspaper Aftonbladet reported that Kristersson sent a letter to President Erdoğan through the Swedish embassy in Ankara yesterday.
In his letter, Prime Minister of Sweden Kristersson reportedly stated, "I hope we can soon have a thorough discussion about NATO. We are ready to visit Ankara at your convenience."
Prime Minister of Sweden Kristersson also reportedly stated in the letter that they took Türkiye's concerns seriously, saying, "We take Türkiye's security concerns very seriously and seek cooperation in the fight against all forms and manifestations of terrorism, including threats posed by the terrorist organisation PKK and other terrorist organisations, as well as their branches."
In his statement today, President Erdoğan said, "The new prime minister of Sweden requested an appointment. I instructed our relevant officials to 'arrange an appointment and invite him to attend.' We will debate these concerns with him in our country as well. Our position on this issue has not changed. These terrorists, who have been subject to such punitive measures, must be apprehended and turned over to us. If they are not turned over to us, Sweden's membership will fail at the parliamentary level. The current prime minister has an approach that supports the fight against terrorism and terrorists."
