President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan congratulated the national wrestler Yasemin Adar Yiğit, who won her second world championship, via phone.
Yasemin Adar Yiğit won the gold medal by defeating Samar Hamza from Egypt in the finals of the women's 76 kg event at the World Wrestling Championships held in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.
President Erdoğan spoke by phone with Yasemin Adar Yiğit, via the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Hamza Yerlikaya, after the competition.
President Erdoğan congratulated the national wrestler, saying, "You won the world championship. We were working with our colleagues, and we watched the competition. Congratulations. It would have gone more smoothly if you'd had her in a headlock early on. We are pleased with your second world championship victory. Congratulations."
Yasemin Adar Yiğit said, "We are demonstrating the might of Turkish women here, Sir. We are following in the footsteps of the Nene Hatuns and Şerife Sisters. Inshallah, we'll be able to meet as soon as possible. Our friend Buse Tosun will compete tomorrow. I believe she will also do really well in her competitions."
