Presidency's Head of Communications of the Republic of Türkiye Burhanettin Duran said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s use of the United Nations General Assembly podium to make baseless accusations against Türkiye and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was incompatible with the ideals of peace, law and dialogue represented by the United Nations.

In a post on the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, Duran criticised Netanyahu’s remarks targeting President Erdoğan, pointing to the arrest warrant issued against Netanyahu by the International Criminal Court for war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.

Duran stated that Netanyahu’s remarks targeting President Erdoğan could not cover up his massacres, the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza or the proceedings before international law.

He stressed that this was also recognised by the international community and that Netanyahu had become more isolated than ever.

Duran said: “Under the leadership of our President, Türkiye will continue to defend the rights of the oppressed, foremost among them our Palestinian brothers and sisters, advocate for a fairer world and peace, and stand against injustice and oppression.”
