Azerbaijan sends field hospital to Türkiye

Azerbaijan will send two humanitarian aid planes to victims of the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes that struck Kahramanmaraş and affected ten provinces.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Azerbaijan, two planes carrying humanitarian aid materials will soon depart for Türkiye on the instruction of President Ilham Aliyev.

According to the statement, one of the planes has a fully equipped field hospital. Azerbaijani doctors will work at this hospital that will be built in one of the earthquake zones.

In the other aircraft, there are materials such as tents, blankets and heaters.

Azerbaijan had dispatched 420 personnel to Türkiye to assist in search and rescue operations.

The World Bank and IMF issue condolence messages in response to the earthquakes

World Bank President David Malpass and International Monetary Fund (IMF) President Kristalina Georgieva both issued condolence messages in response to the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş.

World Bank Group President Malpass expressed his condolences to the people of Türkiye and Syria affected by the devastating earthquake in a post on his social media account, saying, "The World Bank will move quickly to support those affected."

IMF President Georgieva also expressed her sincere condolences for the devastating earthquake and unfolding human tragedy in Türkiye and Syria.

Georgieva expressed her condolences to those who lost loved ones, saying that her thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the disaster.

83-member aid team from Lebanon headed to Adana on a Turkish Airlines plane

A search and rescue team of 83 people from Lebanon took a Turkish Airlines (THY) flight to Adana.

The Lebanese team was picked up by a THY Anadolu Jet plane at Beirut Rafik Hariri International Airport.

The plane carrying the search and rescue team consisting of 83 people, which included the Lebanese Army Search and Rescue Team, the Lebanese Red Cross, the Lebanese Prime Ministry, the Lebanese Civil Defence, the Beirut Fire Brigade, the Beirut-Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) search and rescue team, and personnel from the United Nations Humanitarian Aid Coordination Office, took off from Beirut bound for Adana.

Earlier in the day, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati stated that a search and rescue team would be sent to Türkiye to rescue those trapped under the rubble following the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş.

US President Biden conveys his condolences to President Erdoğan

US President Joe Biden called President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to express his condolences for the earthquake.

Due to the earthquake, US President Biden called President Erdoğan and expressed his condolences to those who died and wished a speedy recovery to those who were injured.

The US to send aid teams to Türkiye, including 158-member search and rescue teams

Due to the earthquake, the United States will send additional aid teams to Türkiye, including two urban search and rescue teams totalling 158 people, each with 79 personnel.

At an online daily press conference, White House National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby answered journalists' questions.

"In addition to the personnel on the ground, we are now sending aid teams, including two urban search and rescue teams of 79 people each, to support Türkiye's search and rescue efforts and help meet the needs of anyone injured," Kirby said, stating that US officials took immediate action in response to the earthquakes that occurred in NATO ally Türkiye and discussed with Turkish authorities about the aid that could be sent.

Kirby stated that the US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Department of Defence (Pentagon) are also negotiating additional assistance with Türkiye.

Apple to make a donation to earthquake victims

Apple CEO Tim Cook also expressed his condolences to Türkiye and Syria, saying, “Apple will be donating to relief and recovery efforts."

Georgia sends a search and rescue team to Türkiye

According to reports, the Georgian government dispatched a search and rescue team to Türkiye to assist in the rescue of those trapped under the rubble of the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş.

According to a written statement issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, the search and rescue team of 60 people was dispatched with the Georgian government’s decision.

According to the statement, the search and rescue team will work in Türkiye under the supervision of Teimuraz Mgebrishvili, the Head of the Emergency Situations Management Service of Georgia.

It was also stated that the team deployed to Türkiye was accompanied by trained dogs and related equipment.

Bulgarian search and rescue team enters the country through the Kapıkule Border Gate

Upon the Kahramanmaraş-centred earthquakes of 7.7 and 7.6 magnitudes, which struck ten provinces, Bulgaria's search and rescue team that was dispatched overland arrived in Türkiye.

Following passport checks, 59 personnel from various cities throughout Bulgaria, including 50 search and rescue specialists, entered the country in 13 vehicles through the Kapıkule Border Gate.

The team leader, Kaloyan Donchev, spoke with the reporters with the help of an interpreter and offered his condolences to the Turkish people.

Donchev expressed sadness over the earthquakes, saying, "We are neighbours, and whatever trouble you endure profoundly hurts us as well. I am aware that your preparations in Türkiye are extensive and that you are taking every necessary step. As neighbours, though, we could not turn a blind eye to this. We wished to join you as well. Fifty of our 59 members are specially trained personnel with prior experience working on earthquake sites. We have also brought our specialised equipment to locate those trapped beneath the rubble."

Donchev added that they would head to the earthquake-stricken area by land and assist in search and rescue efforts.

German search and rescue team departs for the earthquake-stricken area

A group of 41 officers and seven dogs left Cologne, Germany, to join in search-and-rescue efforts.

The team of experts, coordinated by International Search and Rescue (ISAR), took a private aircraft from Cologne-Bonn Airport to Gaziantep.

The leader of the rescue team, Steven Bayer, said in a statement to the AA correspondent prior to the flight that they initially assembled a "quick rescue team" to contact the authorities in Türkiye and reach the earthquake-stricken area as soon as possible.

Bayer indicated that they have more than twenty years of experience in search and rescue as a team and that they move promptly, are well-organised, and will work to assist the earthquake-affected individuals.

It was stated that the quick rescue team, which employs particularly trained and odour-sensitive rescue dogs as well as special search technology to locate those trapped beneath the rubble, will operate for 100 hours in the initial stage and can remain in Türkiye for 14 days if necessary.

Latin American countries send messages of support and solidarity over earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş

After the earthquakes, countries of Latin America issued statements of support and solidarity.

Colombia

Expressing readiness to assist, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia stated, "The government of Colombia is profoundly saddened by the irreparable loss of life caused by the earthquake and aftershocks that occurred today in the Kahramanmaraş province of the Republic of Türkiye."

The Ministry emphasised that they stand in solidarity with the people of Türkiye and Syria.

Brazil

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of Brazil posted on Twitter that he has been watching the unfolding tragedy with great worry and added, “Brazil expresses its solidarity with the people of the two countries, the families of the victims, and everyone who has lost their homes.”

Venezuela

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela shared a post on Twitter offering condolences to the people of Türkiye and Syria, noting, "We are ready to aid and support the affected areas in returning to their pre-disaster state as soon as possible. We pray for the speedy recovery of the many injured.”

Ecuador

The government of Ecuador issued a statement expressing sorrow for the deaths caused by the earthquake, stating, "Ecuador, stunned by the extremely severe earthquake that struck Türkiye this morning, stands in solidarity with the families of the victims."

Cuba

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, posted on social media, stating, "I would like to express my heartfelt sorrow and solidarity with the Turkish people and government. My condolences go out to the families and loved ones of the victims."

Mexico

Secretary of Foreign Affairs Marcelo Ebrard of Mexico said, "We extend our condolences to the Turkish people for the damage and unfortunate loss of life caused by the earthquake in the south of the country. We express our solidarity in these difficult times."

Paraguay

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay extended its deepest condolences to the government and people of Türkiye, wishing that the missing persons be found as soon as possible and that the injured recover as quickly as possible.

Dominican Republic

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic Roberto Álvarez shared a post on Twitter stating, "I extend my condolences to the brotherly Turkish people and government for the loss of life and material damage caused by the earthquake in the south of the country."

Argentina

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina Santiago Cafiero conveyed his condolences to the people of Türkiye and Syria on his Twitter account and said that they stand in solidarity with the families of the victims.

Chile

In a statement expressing sadness over the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria, the Chilean government said, "Chile expresses its solidarity with the victims due to the deaths caused by the earthquake that hit the southern provinces of Türkiye and northern Syria. We wish a speedy recovery to the injured and the missing to be rescued."

Bolivia

In a statement by the Bolivian government, it was noted that they stood in solidarity with the peoples of Türkiye and Syria and conveyed their deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives.

Peru

In the statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru, it was stated that they stood in full solidarity with the people of Türkiye and Syria and conveyed their condolences to the families of the victims and those affected by the earthquake.

Iraqi Red Crescent sends a first aid team of 150 staff to Türkiye

The Iraqi Red Crescent announced that it had sent a first aid team of 150 staff to Türkiye following the 7.7 and 7.7 magnitude earthquakes that were centred in Kahramanmaraş and affected 10 provinces in total.

The Iraqi Red Crescent issued a written statement regarding the devastating earthquakes that hit Türkiye and Syria.

According to the statement, a voluntary first aid team of 150 staff was sent to Türkiye.

The Iraqi Red Crescent also stated that it had delivered 50 tonnes of aid to Syria, including food, tents, and first aid supplies.

Belarus to send search and rescue team to quake-stricken Türkiye

It was stated that Belarus would send a search and rescue team to Türkiye to support the rescue of those trapped under the rubble following the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes that were centred in Kahramanmaraş and affected ten provinces.

According to the statement made by the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Minister of Emergency Situations of Belarus Vadim Sinyavkiy briefed President Aleksandr Lukashenko about the earthquakes in Türkiye and Syria.

It was stated that Lukashenko issued orders to send special equipment to Türkiye with the search and rescue team of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of Belarus.

According to the statement, efforts will be made to send humanitarian aid to Syria.

Kosovo sends a search and rescue team of 30 to Türkiye

The government of Kosovo has decided to send the Kosovo Security Force to support the international humanitarian aid operation in Türkiye due to the earthquakes that were centred in Kahramanmaraş and affected ten provinces.

In a statement, Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani said that she approved the decision to send the Kosovo Security Force to support the international humanitarian aid operation in Türkiye.

Expressing that she stands in full solidarity with Türkiye, Osmani stated that Kosovo would continue to provide the necessary support.

According to the decision, a unit of 30 soldiers from the Kosovo Security Force Unit will participate in search and rescue efforts in Türkiye.

The Force flew from Pristina to Istanbul on a chartered Turkish Airlines flight in the evening.

An aid campaign was launched in cooperation with the Turkish Democratic Party of Kosovo (KDTP) and the Association of Craftsmen and Entrepreneurs of Prizren to support the people in the quake-stricken regions.

KDTP Chairman and Minister of Regional Development of Kosovo Fikrim Damka called for support for the aid account, stating that the collected aid would be delivered to the earthquake victims as soon as possible.

North Macedonia to send 40-member search and rescue team to Türkiye

After the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes, North Macedonia decided to send a search and rescue team of 40 people to Türkiye.

The government of North Macedonia held an extraordinary session to provide emergency aid to Türkiye after the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes.

In the session, it was decided to send a search and rescue team of 40 people, stating that there were North Macedonian citizens in the quake-stricken region.

It was also decided to send equipment to be used in search and rescue, six vehicles, two fire trucks, 10 thousand blankets, 200 stretchers for earthquake victims and 2 trained dogs.

Search and rescue teams from Russia headed to Türkiye

Emergency Situations Minister Alexander Kurenkov of Russia announced that Russian search and rescue teams and healthcare professionals had been dispatched to Türkiye's earthquake-affected areas.

According to a statement made by Kurenkov in the Russian capital, Moscow, search and rescue teams were headed to Syria and Türkiye on the instructions of President Vladimir Putin of Russia.

Kurenkov said that the teams, which included 100 rescue specialists and seven cynology groups, were dispatched to the earthquake-affected areas by four Ministry-owned aircraft and were outfitted with the necessary equipment.

Kurenkov added that 40 healthcare professionals would provide support in a field hospital that will be deployed to the earthquake area along with the teams.

Hungary dispatches a 55-member search and rescue team to Türkiye

Due to the earthquakes that struck ten provinces with their epicentre in Kahramanmaraş, the Hungarian government dispatched a team to support the international humanitarian aid operation in Türkiye.

According to State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior Bence Retvari, a 55-member search and rescue team under the National Directorate General for Disaster Management has been dispatched to Türkiye to aid earthquake victims.

Retvari stated that the team under the National Directorate General for Disaster Management has extensive experience and that their work in Türkiye will further the friendship between Hungary and Türkiye.

It was reported that a plane belonging to the Hungarian Army transported the team, 90 tonnes of equipment, and search and rescue dogs to Adana.

Support for Turkish and Syrian search and rescue operations from Palestine

Following the earthquakes with their epicentre in Kahramanmaraş, Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh of Palestine announced that civil defence and healthcare professionals will be dispatched to Türkiye and Syria to assist with search and rescue operations.

In a statement he posted on his social media account, Shtayyeh offered condolences to the families of those who had died in the earthquakes and wished those injured a quick recovery.

The Prime Minister announced that civil defence and healthcare professionals would be dispatched in accordance with the instructions of President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine to assist in the search and rescue operations in connection with the earthquake that left thousands dead and injured in Türkiye and Syria.

Shtayyeh stated that necessary arrangements were made with the authorities of the two countries within the framework of facilitating the access of search and rescue teams to the earthquake-affected areas and the delivery of aid.

A search and rescue team from Malta headed to Türkiye

The Maltese team left for Türkiye to assist in the search for people still alive underneath the wreckage following the 7.7 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes that struck ten provinces with their epicentre in Kahramanmaraş.

The search and rescue team from the Ministry for Home Affairs, Security, Reforms and Equality of Malta was dispatched from Malta Airport, according to Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of Malta Ian Borg, who posted the information on his Twitter account.

Borg said, "Following the quick decision by the MHSR to deploy an urban SAR team to Türkiye, I have now directed that we provide financial support through the Turkish Red Crescent to assist in initial disaster response efforts on the ground."

The Maltese relief team's departure was attended by Minister Borg in addition to the Minister for Home Affairs, Security, Reforms and Equality of Malta, Byron Camilleri, and the Turkish Ambassador to Valletta Erdeniz Şen.

The 32-member team includes a search and rescue dog, according to information gleaned from diplomatic sources. 5.5 tonnes of humanitarian aid are also transported by the team.

According to the information obtained, the Malta search and rescue team will arrive in Istanbul at 2:00 Turkish time tonight with the scheduled flight of Turkish Airlines. From there, they will be dispatched to the earthquake-affected area under the coordination of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).

An Italian relief team is ready to set off for Türkiye

According to a written statement from the Italian Ministry of Interior, the Italian Fire Brigade team—which includes more than 50 people—and the healthcare team—which includes ten people—finished making preparations to fly from Pisa to the earthquake-affected area in Türkiye on a C-130 transport plane owned by the Italian Air Force.

The Italian fire brigade tweeted about the supplies, concrete crusher, and cutter equipment it will bring to Türkiye.
