Describing his meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Kobakhidze as productive, President Erdoğan said: “We had fruitful talks with Mr. Prime Minister as two neighbors and strategic partners. I reaffirmed Türkiye’s strong support for Georgia’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, stability and welfare. I also highlighted that we will continue to support Georgia’s efforts for integration with Euro-Atlantic institutions. Mr. Prime Minister shared his views and opinions on the domestic political situation in Georgia. As Türkiye, we hope the developments may end in such a manner as to benefit the Georgian people.”
“REGIONAL COOPERATION PROJECTS CONSTITUTE ONE OF THE MAIN PILLARS OF THE TÜRKİYE-GEORGIA RELATIONS”
The bilateral trade volume between Türkiye and Georgia reached $3 billion last year, noted the President, and continued as follows: “During our talks, we focused on $5 billion as the new target. We believe that we will reach this figure swiftly through new business opportunities our shared potential enables us to forge. Regional cooperation projects constitute one of the main pillars of the Türkiye-Georgia relations. We continue our work in order to ensure that the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which is the backbone of the Middle Corridor that revitalizes the Historical Silk Road through rails, becomes functional again with its full capacity. We reaffirmed our will to cooperate on other transportation and energy projects, as well. I conveyed it to Mr. Prime Minister that we stand ready to lend support to Georgia in major infrastructure projects such as airports, ports and roads, as well as the production and transfer of renewable energy.”
