President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Prime Minister Keir Starmer of the United Kingdom on the sidelines of the NATO Summit in The Hague.
During the meeting, bilateral relations between Türkiye and the United Kingdom, as well as regional and global issues, were discussed.
President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye will continue to enhance relations with the aim of increasing the trade volume between the two countries to 30 billion dollars, and that efforts are ongoing to strengthen cooperation in all areas, particularly in the defense industry.
Emphasizing that Türkiye will persist in its efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace between Ukraine and Russia, President Erdoğan expressed hope that Iran and Israel will adhere to the ceasefire, stressing that the escalation must not be allowed to overshadow the catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Gaza. President Erdoğan also underlined that the violations of international law by the Netanyahu government in Palestine are unacceptable, and that Türkiye’s priority is the establishment of a lasting ceasefire in Gaza and the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid.
Reaffirming Türkiye’s commitment to supporting the stabilization of Syria while preserving its territorial integrity and political unity, President Erdoğan warned that Israel’s attacks on Syria could also endanger regional security, and added that improvements in social and economic welfare would facilitate the large-scale return of refugees to Syria.
President Erdoğan was accompanied during the meeting by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Head of the National Intelligence Organization İbrahim Kalın, Presidency's Head of Communications Fahrettin Altun, Chief Advisor to the President on Foreign Policy and Security Akif Çağatay Kılıç, and AK Party Deputy Chairman Halit Yerebakan.
