At the Extraordinary Session of the Islamic Conference of Information Ministers, hosted by our Directorate in İstanbul, Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) announced that a "Media Monitoring Unit" will be established to document Israel's crimes.
Stating that a number of steps were adopted during the summit, including the establishment of a Media Monitoring Unit within the OIC General Secretariat, OIC Secretary General Taha noted that the unit aimed at collecting documents on the crimes and violations of law committed by the "Israeli occupation authorities" against the Palestinians.
Taha pointed out that with this resolution, the leaders of the Member States of the Organisation reaffirmed the necessity of confronting the brutal Israeli occupation attacks against the Palestinian people.
Noting that the press should closely follow Israel's attacks on Gaza, Taha said that the content produced by the monitoring unit in question could be accessed on the OIC's website.
Taha said that the Media Monitoring Unit will organise activities to provide the international community with accurate information on the "Palestinian crisis," reiterating the OIC's support for the Palestinian people.
"Gaza is an integral part of the State of Palestine"
In his speech at the opening, Palestinian Information Minister Nabil Abu Rudeineh called on Arab and Islamic countries to put pressure on the United States to stop the war against the Palestinian people and not to content themselves with statements.
Stating that the Palestinians will never give up their struggle that has been going on for more than 100 years, Rudeineh said, "Gaza is an integral part of the State of Palestine. Israel will not win any war against the Palestinians. We have the will, determination and sanctities. We will not surrender."
Rudeineh pointed out that the Israeli attacks on Palestinian sanctities are in fact an attack on the sanctities of all Arab and Islamic countries.
Rudeineh said that Jerusalem and other holy sites are under attack and that "Everyone must fulfil their responsibility."
