President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan voted for Anadolu Agency's (AA) "Frames of the Year" competition.
President Erdoğan examined photos taken by AA reporters and photojournalists at home and abroad throughout 2023 in various categories, including "News," "Environment-Life," and "Sports" categories, as well as the "Earthquake: Hope," and "Gaza: Evidence" special categories, which were added this year.
President Erdoğan voted for Aytuğ Can Sencar's photo in the "News" category. The photograph depicts the typography "Century of Türkiye" written in the sky during a drone show organised by our Directorate in the Bosphorus to commemorate our Republic's 100th anniversary.
In the same category, President Erdoğan voted for Yair Palti's "S.O.S.", which shows thousands of demonstrators who gathered in Tel Aviv to protest against the legislation limiting the judiciary's authority that was being enacted by the coalition government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
For the category "Gaza: Evidence," President Erdoğan cast his vote for Mustafa Hassona's photo "Indescribable Pain," showing the relatives of those who lost their lives taking the bodies of their loved ones from the morgue of Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah, and also voted for Mohammed Fayq's photo "Mass Grave," showing the burial of 111 Palestinians who were killed as a result of the attacks by the Israeli army in the northern areas of the Gaza Strip and Gaza in a mass grave in Khan Younis city in the southern Gaza Strip.
President Erdoğan voted for Aytuğ Can Sencar's photo "The Hope of the Earthquake" in the category "Earthquake: Hope" while opting for Mostafa Alkharouf's photo "Prayer at the First Qibla," showing thousands of people performing prayer on the night of Laylat al-Qadr at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first qibla of Muslims.
Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun was also present during the vote.
