President Erdoğan shows NATO leaders a video depicting terrorism’s true face

During a session on terrorism as part of the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit, President Erdoğan showed the leaders a video prepared by the Directorate of Communications depicting Türkiye's fight against terrorism.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended a session on terrorism as part of the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit in Madrid, the capital of Spain. President Erdoğan displayed a video titled "NATO must commit to combating all forms of terrorism" to the leaders.

The video, which includes images from terrorist attacks carried out in Türkiye by the PKK/YPG, DAESH, and FETO, highlights Türkiye's tenacious fight against all terrorist organisations.

The video also included images demonstrating that some countries tolerate and support the activities and demonstrations by terrorist organisations that Türkiye is fighting.

Highlighting Türkiye's fight against terrorism, the video stresses that over 40 thousand people lost their lives in Türkiye due to terrorism, adding, "Terrorist organisations have consistently targeted Türkiye's security and stability, which is located in strategic and turbulent geography. In the last 40 years, Türkiye has eliminated the PKK's domestic terrorist threat, defeated DAESH in Syria, and finally won a victory by neutralising the putschists in the FETO-organized July 15 coup attempt. Türkiye, which lost tens of thousands of citizens in terrorist attacks and had to spend billions of dollars to ensure the country's security and stability, paid a high price in the fight against terrorism."

Video also documents Europe's stance against terrorism

Attention was drawn to the attitudes of the European allies on terrorism directed against Türkiye in the video, which also included a quote from NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, who said, "We must understand and bear in mind that no NATO ally has been exposed to terrorist attacks as much as Türkiye."

The video featured demonstrations of supporters of the terrorist organisation in the capital of France, Paris, the capital of the UK, London; the capital of the Netherlands, Amsterdam; the capital of Finland, Helsinki, as well as in Malmö, Sweden, and Düsseldorf, Germany, and emphasised, "Türkiye continues its determined fight against terrorism while its NATO allies, unfortunately, have turned a blind eye to Ankara's national security concerns. Many European allies continue to provide direct or indirect political, financial and weaponry support to the terrorist organisation PKK and its affiliates that threaten the national security of Türkiye and the lives of Turkish citizens."

US support for PKK and FETO

The video highlighted that the US continues to support the YPG, the Syrian branch of the terrorist organisation PKK, with funding, training and weapons under the guise of combating terrorism, accompanied by footage of the FETO camp in Pennsylvania, and stated, "The FETO ringleader still evades accountability and continues to give instructions to the terrorist organisation from his farmstead in Pennsylvania."

"Together we are strong, and together we can defeat terrorism" message

Underlining that the rise of terrorist organisations in the world and their increasing activities require NATO to be more vigilant than ever against all forms of terrorism and acts of terrorism, the video featured, "While standing in solidarity and respecting each member state's national security concerns is critical to the success of NATO's counter-terrorism efforts, it will also enable the Alliance to fulfil its anti-terrorism missions, such as collective defence, crisis management, and cooperative security. While the fight against terrorism is at the top of the agenda at the Madrid Summit, member states should once again remember their responsibilities to one another and continue to fully support the fight against all forms of terrorism. Together we are strong, and together we can defeat terrorism."
