President Erdoğan sends video message to 29th International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition in Baku

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that the joint projects of Azerbaijan and Türkiye contribute substantially not only to the two countries themselves but also to the energy security of the region and Europe. He further stated, "It is only a matter of time before the gas produced in Turkmenistan is transferred to Türkiye and Europe through our joint efforts, thereby expanding the capacity of TANAP."

President Erdoğan sent a video message to the opening ceremony of the 29th International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition in Baku.

Alparslan Bayraktar, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, read the message from President Erdoğan.

President Erdoğan expressed his wish for positive outcomes from Baku Energy Week events. Erdoğan also expressed his hope that the exhibition would deepen cooperation between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, contributing to regional peace and stability.

President Erdoğan stated that Türkiye and Azerbaijan maintain a robust relationship in all domains, including energy, and said, "Our long-standing collaboration, which has culminated in infrastructure investments such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum pipelines and TANAP, has benefited not only Türkiye and Azerbaijan but has also significantly contributed to the region's and Europe's energy security. It is only a matter of time before the gas produced in Turkmenistan is transferred to Türkiye and Europe through our joint efforts, thereby expanding the capacity of TANAP. The fact that our efforts on these issues will bear fruit so soon will definitely be another joint triumph for Türkiye and Azerbaijan."

President Erdoğan stated that the Turkic world aims to advance and strengthen cooperation in the energy sector, as well as in the political, economic, commercial, security, military, defence industry, transportation, health, education, and cultural spheres. Erdoğan further noted:

"It gives me great pleasure to inform you that the next summit of the Organisation of Turkic States will be held next month in Shusha, hosted by dear Azerbaijan. The 6-fold increase in freight transportation capacity expected with the completion of modernisation work on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which serves as the backbone of the Middle Corridor and brings the historical Silk Road to life on rails, is critical to the development of the regional transportation network.

As two countries, we are enhancing our collaboration in the areas of renewable energy, new technologies, and energy resource diversity. We aim to expedite the completion of the electricity export via Nakhchivan and Iğdır-Nakhchivan Natural Gas Pipeline projects. We are determined to continue our efforts to secure peace and development in the South Caucasus on the foundation of lasting peace and stability. I appreciate the recent positive developments between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and I would want to emphasise once more that the signing of a peace agreement is a historic opportunity for the region's future."

President Erdoğan reiterated that Azerbaijan will host the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP 29) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change on November 11–22, 2024 and expressed readiness to provide all kinds of support for conference preparations.
