President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan came to the office of Permanent Representative of Turkey to the European Union in Belgium, where he paid a working visit upon the invitation of President of the European Council Charles Michel.
Erdoğan, who was welcomed upon his arrival enthusiastically by Turkish citizens living in the country, addressed the citizens.
Erdoğan asked the citizens waiting for him in the cold weather to give their blessing and made the following remarks:
"We want to further improve the relations between Europe and Turkey through our meetings with the Secretary-General of NATO, the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission today. You are our limbs, eyes and the hearing ears in Europe. We always aspire to remain as one nation, one flag, one homeland, and one state. As a result, we will be united, strong, vigorous, brothers and sisters and become Turkey altogether. Do not neglect it. We love you so much for God’s sake. You are the limbs and the hearing ear of the People’s Alliance here. We will keep the People’s Alliance vigorous and strong. No stopping, keep going.”
Erdoğan also warned Turkish citizens to be alert about coronavirus.
“We will take measures, and the rest is providential,” said Erdoğan, adding, "We will be careful about everything from washing hands to kissing each other. You see it in other countries of the world. They are supposed to be Western countries, but hundreds of people die there. We will be careful. God willing, the entire humanity will be freed of this trouble and plague. Please remember the measures.”
Erdoğan was also accompanied by some ministers during his address to citizens.
Meanwhile, Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun shared on his social media account a photo of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, which showed him reading the notes of his speech that he will give in Brussels, with the caption “On the road to Brussels… “Utmost effort, utmost sincerity.”
