President Erdoğan, President Joe Biden of the U.S talk over phone

The call addressed Ukraine’s position within NATO, Sweden’s NATO accession bid, delivery of F-16s, and Türkiye’s full membership process to the EU.

The two leaders agreed to hold a one-on-one meeting in Vilnius to discuss in detail the Türkiye-U.S. bilateral relations and regional issues. Sweden has taken some steps in the right direction by making amendments in its anti-terror legislation; however, those steps have been negated as the PKK/PYD/YPG supporters continue to freely hold demonstrations praising terror, President Erdoğan stated. Stressing that it is wrong to link Türkiye’s F-16 demand to Sweden’s membership, President Erdoğan thanked President Biden for his support regarding Türkiye’s F-16 demand.

Drawing attention to Türkiye’s principled and honest stance concerning the EU membership, President Erdoğan said that Türkiye wants to rejuvenate the full membership process to the EU and expects a message of open and strong support from the leading EU countries and the EU leadership for Ankara’s EU membership during the Vilnius Summit.
