The "Martyred Diplomats Exhibition" was inaugurated in Vienna, the capital of Austria, by the Presidency's Directorate of Communications in memory of Turkish diplomats martyred by Armenian terrorist organisations.
The exhibition, which tells the personal stories of Turkish diplomats martyred as a result of the attacks of Armenian terrorist organisations such as ASALA and JCAG, is brought to the attention of those concerned in Austria, following the United States, in order to demonstrate the ugly face of terrorism.
The exhibition, dedicated to Turkish diplomats who did not abandon their duty and became martyrs for this cause between 1973 and 1984, drew attention.
Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun attended the inauguration of the exhibition via video message and made remarks on the 5th exhibition, which is held in Vienna.
Presidency’s Deputy Director of Communications Çağatay Özdemir (PhD), Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the Office of the United Nations (UN) in Vienna Ahmet Muhtar Gün, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the Organisation of Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Hatun Demirer as well as many guests attended the inauguration ceremony of the exhibition, which may also be visited tomorrow.
The exhibition details the systematic terrorist attacks
The exhibition details the systematic terrorist attacks and assassinations against well-trained and equipped state officials who represented Türkiye abroad.
The exhibition, which depicts the terrorist attacks and assassinations carried out by Armenian terrorists with country-based and city-based graphics and historical timelines on panels, also features special visuals that include high-resolution photos upscaled with artificial intelligence technologies and stories of the martyred diplomats.
Additionally, the exhibition highlights Türkiye's efforts to shed light on the events of 1915 and reveal the facts, despite the Armenian lobby and some countries' deliberate misrepresentation of the events of 1915 for political purposes.
The first terrorist attack on Turkish diplomats was organised in 1973
The exhibition was previously held in various cities throughout the United States, and it was organised to honour Turkish diplomats who were attacked by Armenian terrorist organisations despite the fact that they had immunity and should have been protected by the countries where they were stationed.
The assassination of Türkiye's Consul-General in Los Angeles, Mehmet Baydar, and Consul Bahadır Demir in Santa Barbara in 1973 by American national Armenian Gourgen Yanikian marked the start of organised terrorist attacks against Turkish diplomats.
On October 26, 1973, the bomb planted near the New York Turkish Information Bureau was detected and destroyed in time, and an Armenian group calling themselves the "Yanikian Commandos" claimed responsibility for this attack.
58 Turkish citizens, 31 of whom were diplomats and their family members, were martyred in attacks carried out by Armenian terrorist organisations such as ASALA and JCAG in the 1970s and later, a total of 77 lives were lost and many more were injured.
The exhibition was previously held in a number of cities throughout the United States, as well as in İstanbul.
