Presidency’s Director of Communications Altun’s Message on World Radio Day

Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun congratulated all radio broadcasters who have put their signature under broadcasts that are the "voice of truth" on February 13, World Radio Day, and stated that they consider it their principal duty to contribute to the dissemination and enrichment of radio culture.

Director of Communications Altun made the following remarks on World Radio Day:

"Radio, which is still one of the most powerful mass media in the world, has been one of the indispensable communication channels in our country since its first broadcast in 1927.

Initially used to access the news, the radio has been playing a crucial role in social life with educational broadcasts, and also gained a place in the fields of entertainment with music broadcasts, culture and arts with audio theatre plays, and economy with advertorials.

Radio channels have expanded their realms and capacities by using digital opportunities provided by the developing technology.

Today, 933 radio channels broadcasting locally, regionally, and nationally with satellite, cable, and internet infrastructure reach millions of people with different content, especially the news and music.

Recently, radio broadcasting has had its share of the infrastructure investments made in Turkey in every field.

One of the most significant investments in this area is undoubtedly the gathering of radio and television transmitters on Büyük Çamlıca Hill in Istanbul in a single tower built in Küçük Çamlıca.

Thanks to this project, which was implemented with the instruction of our President and also became one of the landmarks of Istanbul, 100 radio channels started broadcasting at high quality from a single tower for the first time in the world.

As the Presidency's Directorate of Communications, we consider it our principal duty to contribute to the dissemination and enrichment of radio culture.

Being aware of the important position of radio broadcasting in the media world, we will continue to support radio broadcasting and stand by all sector employees, from programmers to technical staff.

With these thoughts, I congratulate all radio broadcasters who have put their signature under broadcasts that are the "voice of truth" on February 13, World Radio Day and wish them success."
