President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's tete-a-tete meeting at the Tehran International Conference Hall with President Vladimir Putin of Russia, who is in Iran on the margins of the Trilateral Astana Summit, ended.
Putin thanked President Erdoğan for his efforts to mediate grain exports and food issues across the Black Sea.
Putin stated after the meeting that he and President Erdoğan had not been able to meet face-to-face for about a year but that they had talked on the phone often during that time.
Stating that his Russian and Turkish colleagues are always in touch, Putin said, "Despite everything, things are looking up in our relationship. The volume of bilateral trade is steadily rising."
Expressing his satisfaction with the opportunity to meet within the framework of the Astana format, Putin said that there are many issues to talk about.
Addressing the problem of grain exports from Ukraine, Putin noted, "Thank you for your efforts to mediate and provide a platform in Türkiye for discussions on food issues and grain exports across the Black Sea. We've made progress thanks to your mediation. Progress is good, even if not all the problems have been fixed yet."
Pointing out that there are many issues related to the Syrian issue, Putin said that Russia and Türkiye are likewise focused on the Karabakh issue.
Putin also emphasised the establishment of crucial bilateral major projects between Russia and Türkiye in the future.
