The Presidency's Head of Communications, Burhanettin Duran, shared a post on his NSosyal account on the occasion of 20 June World Refugee Day.
In the post, Head of Communications Duran said:
"On World Refugee Day, we once again call attention to the plight of millions of people who have been forced to flee the countries where they were born and raised in the midst of war, conflict, and oppression.
The tragedy unfolding in Gaza today is being etched into memory as one of the gravest examples of forced displacement and the humanitarian suffering endured by innocent civilians. The cries of civilians, women, and children facing the threat of losing their homes, loved ones, and the most fundamental rights to life constitute a call to humanity's collective conscience.
As President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasises at every opportunity, standing by the oppressed, defending justice, and protecting human dignity is not merely a matter of choice, but a responsibility owed to the collective conscience of humanity. Guided by its history and civilisational values, Türkiye will continue to lend its voice to those subjected to injustice and to uphold, with unwavering resolve, its principled stance that places conscience and equity at its core.
I hope that 20 June World Refugee Day will encourage the international community to take on more responsibility, develop long-term solutions, and contribute to the creation of a "fairer world" in which no human being is forced to leave their homeland."
