Head of Communications Duran’s article published in South Korea

The article titled "Cooperation between Türkiye and South Korea in Building a Fair International Order," penned by the Presidency's Head of Communications, Burhanettin Duran, was published in Korean and English in Aju Kyungie, one of South Korea's leading media outlets.

The article emphasised that at a time when power balances are being reshaped, the conventional international order is entering a phase of disintegration, and normative values are being eroded, the global system has been drawn into a multi-layered environment of uncertainty.

It was noted that intensifying geopolitical competition, asymmetric risks stemming from technological transformation, and problems in energy and food security are deepening the crisis of global governance.

Head of Communications Duran stated this situation necessitates an international governance system that is fairer, centred on human dignity, and based on strong representation, and noted that Türkiye stands as a key actor in this process, guided by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's vision of "a fairer world is possible." The article points out Türkiye’s active diplomacy engagement on both regional and global scales to contribute to the establishment of global peace, prosperity, and stability, and touches upon the ongoing mediation efforts undertaken in multilateral platforms, particularly the United Nations.

The Ukraine-Russia War, the peace process in Southern Philippines, and efforts to secure a lasting ceasefire in Gaza were cited as examples of Türkiye's contributions in this realm. The article emphasises that Türkiye's understanding of peace and humanitarian diplomacy aligns with the dialogue-based foreign policy approach pursued by South Korea, which assumes a growing global role in the Asia-Pacific region.

"Bond of brotherhood "

It was stated that relations between the two countries have been shaped on the basis of a bond of brotherhood forged during the Korean War. The article recalled that the diplomatic relations established between Türkiye and South Korea in 1957 were elevated to the level of strategic partnership in 2012, highlighting the potential for cooperation in areas such as energy, defence industry, artificial intelligence, and innovation.

It was noted that the Directorate of Communications also contributes to strengthening cooperation between the two countries through various forums and programmes organised in Seoul.

Head of Communications Duran expressed that the bonds of brotherhood between Türkiye and South Korea will persist through joint initiatives aimed at building a fairer, more stable and prosperous international order.
