Head of Communications Altun voted for İsa Terli's photo "7 Hills, 5 Minarets, 1 Tower" in the "Daily Life" category and Hakan Akgün's photo "Cedi" in the "Sports" category.
Altun evaluates the "Frames of the Year" voting
After receiving information about the photographs from AA Chairman of the Board and Director General Serdar Karagöz, Head of Communications Altun wished that the Frames of the Year voting would be instrumental for good this year as well.
Head of Communications Altun: "Anadolu Agency's "Frames of the Year" has evolved into a brand. Anadolu Agency is a world-renowned brand and an important reference in the field of photography, and indeed, the "Frames of the Year" is an event that reinforces and benefits Anadolu Agency's branding in this field.
Head of Communications Altun stated that voting in the Frames of the Year categories is both challenging and enjoyable, adding, "You are browsing through very high-quality photographs, and you are trying to choose the best quality or the one that appeals to you. This practice allows for the documentation of both global developments and those within our country."
Head of Communications Fahrettin Altun noted that he had a hard time making a selection this year as well. He recalled voting for a photo in the 'News' category, taken by Barış Seçkin, which captures the moment when U.S. President Joe Biden approached President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to greet and engage in conversation during the 'G7 High-Level Session' at the G7 Leaders' Summit, hosted by Italy as the G7 Presidency.
Head of Communications Fahrettin Altun commented on the photo, saying, "Our President attended seven to eight international summits consecutively in 2024. These are platforms where our President truly stands as a focal point. This photo genuinely reflects that."
"Free Syria" category
Head of Communications Fahrettin Altun emphasised the importance of creating a special category for Syria under the title "Free Syria," stating:
"It is highly meaningful that the special section on Syria is included separately within the Frames of the Year. Syria has undergone a tremendous transformation. There is an ongoing movement for liberation; a revolution has taken place, and this has come after immense suffering, hardship, and oppression We are now in the process of Syria’s reconstruction and rebuilding. Today, Mr. Ahmed al-Sharaa will be visiting Türkiye in response to an invitation from our President and will hold talks with him. Türkiye has always supported Syria in this regard, standing in solidarity with the Syrian people. With the new administration in Syria, our relations have now been re-established, and we hope that these renewed ties will progress positively, mutually benefiting both the Turkish and Syrian people.
The Head of Communications, Altun also highlighted the presence of highly impactful photographs in the "Free Syria" category of the voting.
Congratulating all the photojournalists whose photographs were featured in the Frames of the Year voting, as well as Anadolu Agency, Altun stated: "Each photograph is unique and special. It was truly challenging to make a selection."
