Directorate of Communications holds “Türkiye-Uzbekistan” panel in Tashkent

The panel titled “30 Years of Türkiye-Uzbekistan Relations Drawing Strength from the Shared History and Culture” was organised by the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications prior to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s visit to Uzbekistan on March 29.

The panel discussed issues related to the strengthening of political, economic, cultural and social relations between the two countries.

The panel, which discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, improve existing collaboration, and explore new opportunities for cooperation, underlined the importance of expanding mutual acculturation.

The panel moderated by Doğuş Yayın Grubu International Relations and News Coordinator Ahmet Yeşiltepe hosted Faculty Member at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University’s Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences’ Department of International Relations Prof Nur Çetin, Head of Department at the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhrom Satiboldiyev, and Head of Department at the International Institute of Central Asia Assoc. Prof. Alisher Sobirov as speakers.

Yeşiltepe remarked that amid the world's complex political environment, every step toward solidifying the friendship and brotherhood between the two countries should be embraced.

Noting that Türkiye was the first country to acknowledge Uzbekistan's independence, Yeşiltepe stated that the cordial relations and candid dialogue between the two leaders bolstered relations between the two fraternal countries.

Prof. Nur Çetin, Faculty Member at Kırşehir Ahi Evran University’s Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences’ Department of International Relations, focused on the historical development of Turkish-Islamic culture from Central Asia to Anatolia in her speech. Çetin stated that the Türkiye and Uzbekistan share common interests and goals, and that the two countries should support each other on all international platforms. Çetin expressed her belief that the already friendly and brotherly relations in political, economic, diplomatic, military, and cultural spheres would continue to strengthen and deepen with each passing day.

Assoc. Prof. Alisher Sobirov, Head of Department at the International Institute of Central Asia, explained how the Republic of Türkiye’s foundation process set an example for them. Expressing a desire to organize activities that would strengthen ties between the two countries’ peoples and foster interaction between their youth, Sobirov underlined the importance of transferring Türkiye’s experience in higher education to Uzbekistan and the need for increased cooperation in the field of education.

Bakhrom Satiboldiyev, Head of Department at the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, stated that the flourishing relations between Türkiye and Uzbekistan contributed significantly to what he dubbed the country’s 3rd Renaissance. He went on to say that Türkiye was among the most popular states in the world and they desired to learn from its experiences.

Bakhrom stated that Turkish businessmen’s investments in Uzbekistan have increased recently and that Türkiye ranks third among countries investing in Uzbekistan, after Russia and China.
