Presidency’s Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun said, “Türkiye continues its efforts with all of its institutions to draw the world’s attention to the persecution in Palestine.”
Director of Communications Altun issued a written statement regarding the ceasefire established in Palestine following Israeli attacks and the subsequent developments.
Noting that, since the last days of Ramadan, Israel has caused the death of 232 people, including 65 children and 39 women, in its attacks targeting Palestinians at Al-Aqsa Mosque and in Gaza, Altun stated the following:
"We strongly condemn Israel’s attack with stun grenades and rubber bullets on the congregation at Al-Aqsa Mosque, the first qiblah of Muslims, after the Friday prayer despite the ceasefire that came into effect yesterday. Israel, which has turned a deaf ear to calls to put an end to its attacks that left hundreds of Palestinians dead and thousands of them wounded, as well as displacing at least 75 thousand individuals and completely destroying 1800 houses, has once again shown its true face by breaking the ceasefire declared after all the persecution and suffering it inflicted.
Occupying Israel also attacked civilians and caused the death of many innocent people after announcing a ceasefire in 2008, 2009, 2012, 2014 and 2018. The formidable scenes we have witnessed in this process have once again revealed occupying Israel’s policy of ethnic cleansing and systematic expansionism."
Altun said Türkiye would continue to support the Palestinians in their just cause while also following the sustainability of the ceasefire and the violations.
"Türkiye continues its efforts to draw the world’s attention to the persecution in Palestine"
Altun also emphasised that they would continue to make efforts for a lasting solution on the occupied Palestinian territories and noted that Türkiye reiterated its call for the world to take action for Israel to bring an end to its persecution, occupation and terror policies.
Reminding that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had been calling out the Palestinian truth to the entire world on all international platforms, particularly the United Nations (UN), for years, Altun noted the following:
"Türkiye continues its efforts with all of its institutions to draw the world’s attention to the persecution in Palestine. Our Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu once again underlined Türkiye’s firm stance against the terrorist acts and occupation policies of Israel at the General Assembly of the UN that convened to discuss Israeli attacks against Palestine.
The ceasefire secured thanks to our President’s efforts should be taken as an opportunity to find a lasting solution to free the Palestinians from the inhumane blockade, to call Israel to account for its offences and to find a lasting solution for the problem on a two-state basis. As Türkiye, we will continue our efforts on all platforms to call Israel to account for its crimes against humanity, for the Palestinians killed and the territories occupied."
