Director of Communications Altun marks World Radio Day with exclusive video

Presidency's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun marked February 13 World Radio Day.

On the occasion of "World Radio Day," Director of Communications Altun shared a video message on his social media account depicting radio's history.

Director of Communications Altun congratulated all radio broadcasters on their special day, stating that radio, an ageless element of mass communication, continues to bring the distant closer.

The video featured in Directorate of Communications Altun's post said:

"The radio, which was invented in 1895, unquestionably revolutionised the history of communications. The radio quickly dismantled the reign of distances, making it easier than ever to get news from around the world. Türkiye was among the first countries to use radio. The radio journey began in the basement of Istanbul's Grand Post Office in Sirkeci and has now lasted 101 years without a break. Following the first broadcast in 1927, radio systems were first installed in homes in 1932. Radio has been a part of our lives ever since. We've always listened to the radio to hear the music we like best, the most exciting games, and the most gripping stories. Years passed, technology advanced, and new communication tools were developed, but radio's popularity remained constant. Today, 1,100 radio stations in Türkiye reach 30 million listeners per week with a wide range of broadcasts. The radio continues to accompany our lives, sometimes on the way to our hometown, sometimes in traffic, sometimes in a coffee shop. Happy World Radio Day to all of our radio broadcasters and millions of listeners who have dedicated their lives to the radio."
