In his post commemorating the victims of the racist terrorist attack in Hanau, Germany, two years ago, in which nine people, including Turkish people, were killed, Presidency’s Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun said, "It has been two years since the racist Hanau attack. I commemorate those who lost their lives in the attack with mercy and respect."
Director of Communications Altun shared a video on his social media account commemorating the second anniversary of the racist terrorist attack in Hanau, Germany, on February 19, 2020, in which nine people, including Turkish people, were killed.
In his message shared in German and Turkish, Director of Communications Altun said, "It has been two years since the racist Hanau attack. I commemorate those who lost their lives in the attack with mercy and respect."
The video shared by the Director of Communications Altun included narrations by the relatives of those who lost their lives in the racist attack and by the witnesses of the attack.
Bilal Piter Minnemann, a young man who survived the attack, described the terrifying moments he experienced. Mienneman stated that when he was alone outside at night, he felt the same anxiety and said, "Those memories are pierced into my mind and will never go."
It was reported that the only female casualty of the attack, 35-year-old Mercedes Kierpacz, left behind two children. Kierpacz's mother, Sophia Kierpacz, said that her grandchildren were asking the same question every day, "Where is our mother?" Kierpacz said, "The younger girl is now nine years old. The kids are always asking, 'Grandmother, where is our mother?' What am I going to tell them?"
Racist terrorism threats will be discussed at the panel
On the other hand, the panel "Seeking Justice for the Hanau Victims: The Far-Right Terrorist Threat in Germany" will be held under the auspices of the Director of Communications Altun.
The far-right terrorist threat in Germany will be discussed in the panel that will be held on Monday, February 21, at the Directorate of Communications Conference Hall.
In the panel, sessions will be held on topics such as "What path has the far-right taken since the fall of the Berlin Wall?", "Right-wing extremist groups infiltrating state bodies and the extent of the danger", "How does the media influence our views about racism?"
