The Defence Industry Executive Committee convened at the Presidential Complex under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. In the written statement made after the meeting, it was stated that the technology-oriented and R&D-based defence industry policy would be sustained by growing stronger.
At the meeting, where developments in the defence industry were discussed, it was reported that various projects related to electronic warfare, urban security systems, communications, weapons, ammunition, missiles and various platforms aimed at adding new domestic and national systems used by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) and security units were concluded.
It was emphasized that the importance of the products designed, developed and produced by the Turkish Armed Forces and security units has once again emerged with the latest developments.
The following points are included in the statement:
“In the meeting, where it was emphasized that the defence industry sector continued business without interruption despite the pandemic caused by COVID-19, it was noted that our technology-oriented and R&D-based defence industry policy would be sustained by growing stronger and experience-sharing between sectors and works with a focus on export would continue. Turkey will resolutely move towards its goal of having a fully independent defence industry.”
Also in attendance were Vice President Fuat Oktay, Minister of Treasury and Finance Lütfi Elvan, Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu, Minister of National Defence Hulusi Akar, Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, Chief of General Staff Gen. Yaşar Güler, Director of Defence Industries İsmail Demir, and Chief of the Cabinet to the President Hasan Doğan.
