Ara Güler Exhibition Opens in Rome

Ara Güler Photography Exhibition organized by the Presidency opened in Rome on its fifth stop on January 29 after it started travelling around the world in April last year.

The exhibition, which is organized by the Presidency in collaboration with Ara Güler Museum and Archive and Research Center, and aims to carry the works of the distinguished photographer Ara Güler, who passed away in 2018, to the world, was opened at London Saatchi Gallery in April 2019, at Paris Polka Gallery in May 2019, at Kyoto Tofuku-ji Temple in Japan during the G-20 Summit and at Alexander Hamilton Custom House in New York during the United Nations General Assembly session and attracted great interest from art lovers.

The preview of Ara Güler Photography Exhibition, which will remain open at the Trastevere Museum in Rome until May 3, 2020, was held on the morning of January 29, 2020. Turkey’s Ambassador to Rome Murat Salim Esenli and Chief Advisor to the President Fecir Alptekin informed journalists on Ara Güler and the previous stops of the exhibition.

The exhibition at the Trastevere Museum, located at the historical city center in Rome and popular among both the city’s residents and tourists, particularly features a selection of portraits including famous figures such as Federico Fellini, Antonio Tabucchi, Bernardo Bertolucci, and Sophia Loren as well as Ara Güler’s photographs of Istanbul during the 1950s and 60s.
