Altun: “We see that the EU still has not adopted the right stance in the fight against terrorism”

Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun slammed a statement made by the European External Action Service on the recent terrorist attack by the YPG/PKK in Afrin, saying, “A ceasefire call is never made to terrorist organizations. Terrorism is condemned. Terrorists are fought. Considering its press release, we unfortunately see that the EU still has not adopted the right stance in the fight against terrorism.”

In a thread on his Twitter account, Altun stated that “those who are to be blamed for a terrorist attack with identified perpetrators are not sought” and noted the following:

"A ceasefire call is never made to terrorist organizations. Terrorism is condemned. Terrorists are fought. Considering its press release, we unfortunately see that the EU still has not adopted the right stance in the fight against terrorism. This is unacceptable. Despite all our warnings so far, those who have supported and armed the YPG/PKK, tried to legitimize it and allowed the terrorist organizations to operate in their countries are among those who are to be primarily blamed for the massacre in Afrin. This attack has shown that the new ‘labels’ given to terrorist organizations do not change the evil nature of terrorists.”

“Terrorism harms the civilians, peace and stability and leads to non-recoverably painful consequences,” underlined Altun, and indicated the following:

“The identity of civilians who lost their lives and the side of the border that was attacked will not affect our fight against the perpetrators of this treacherous attack. We are Turkey. We have fought terrorism in all its forms and we will continue to do so. Furthermore, we are referring to our nation's conscience those who still try to quibble in the face of this obvious terrorist attack, and also non-national elements who make vicious alliances with the terrorist organization PKK.”

Statement made by the European External Action Service

The statement made by the EU External Action Service regarding the terrorist attack carried out with a bomb-rigged fuel tanker in the district center of Afrin without mentioning the name of the terrorist organization PKK/YPG said, “Such intolerable acts of terrorism in the Afrin district of Syria can never be justified. Those responsible must be held accountable,” adding, “the call for ceasefire is reiterated.”
