‘‘Türkiye–Ethiopia Relations: A Century of Diplomacy, Everlasting Friendship’’ Panel

On 16 February 2026, Directorate of Communications will organise the panel ''Türkiye–Ethiopia Relations: A Century of Diplomacy, Everlasting Friendship'' in Addis Ababa.

To mark the centenary of Türkiye–Ethiopia diplomatic relations, which began with our country’s establishment of its first embassy on the African continent in 1926, a panel will be organised to assess bilateral relations both within the context of the Horn of Africa and on a global scale.

At the panel to be held, critical issues such as the historical background of relations between the two countries, the assessment of the current bilateral cooperation, and potential areas for further development of bilateral cooperation will be discussed from an academic and holistic perspective.

The panel, which will begin with opening remarks by the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Addis Ababa, Berk Baran, and a message from the Head of Communications, Prof Burhanettin Duran, will feature speakers including Foreign Policy Researcher at the SETA Foundation, Dr Tunç Demirtaş, Executive Director of the Centre for National and Regional Integration Studies (CeNRIS), Dr Ibrahim Mulushewa, Independent Researcher, Emir Yasin Kekeç, and Faculty Member at Addis Ababa University, Dr Abdulaziz Dino Gidreta.
