The third session of the “Türkiye-Balkans Media Forum,” organised by the Directorate of Communications, was held.
Speaking at the session, "Crisis of Truth: Combating Disinformation, Fake News, and Perception Management," Emre Baştuğ, the Director of TRT Balkan, stated, "When truth fades, principled journalism steps into the spotlight. This is the compass pointing to the right direction amidst the digital cacophony."
Şener Bilalli, faculty member of the International Balkan University, highlighted that the combat against disinformation is no longer an issue restricted to the media but now a matter of safeguarding democracy and societal trust.
Esra Özsüer, faculty member at the Research Institute of Turkology of the İstanbul University, said in her speech, "Accessing information was exceedingly challenging 35 years ago; today, it is exceedingly challenging to obtain accurate information. Disinformation is an outcome; however, it is imperative that we address the root causes." Sedad Dedić, political analyst and lecturer at the Faculty of Law of Zenica University, said, "Türkiye represents the best example in combating anti-Islamic rhetoric and disinformation. Türkiye’s message is clear: Peace and security can be found wherever Muslims live."
George N. Tzogopoulos, senior researcher at the European Institute, stated in his address that comprehending technology is crucial for developing effective anti-disinformation strategies in today's media landscape.
