The ''Global Narrative of the Türkiye Brand: Turkish TV Series'' programme, to be organised by our Directorate in İstanbul on 28 August, aims to discuss the TV series industry's contribution to Türkiye’s public diplomacy and to develop a roadmap for the future.
Turkish TV series, which have gained immense popularity internationally in recent years, have been exported to more than 170 countries, reached more than 1 billion unique viewers, and become a major public diplomacy actor for Türkiye. Organised by the Presidency's Directorate of Communications to discuss this issue and bring representatives of the TV series industry together with the public sector, the ''Global Narrative of the Türkiye Brand: Turkish TV Series'' programme will be held in İstanbul on 28 August 2026, bringing together representatives of public institutions and the industry, academics and members of the press.
The programme will begin with opening remarks by Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and the Presidency's Head of Communications, Burhanettin Duran, followed by a panel moderated by Director General of Cinema at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Birol Güven, with the participation of President of the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) Mehmet Daniş, Deputy Director General of TRT Yusuf Şimşek, Dean of the Faculty of Communication at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University Mehmet Sezai Türk, and Producer Onur Güvenatam. The panel will discuss the success achieved by Turkish TV series on a global scale and the impact of this success on Türkiye’s public diplomacy and promotion.
Following the panel, a closed workshop will be held with the participation of representatives of public institutions and the TV series industry and academics, during which the contributions of Turkish TV series to Türkiye’s public diplomacy and to perceptions of Türkiye on the international stage will be discussed, and a joint roadmap will be developed through cooperation among the public sector, the TV series industry and academia.
