The second session of the “Türkiye-Balkans Media Forum,” organised by the Directorate of Communications, was held.
Speaking at the second session, "Media, Communication, and Information in the Digital Age: Opportunities and Threats," Assoc. Prof Bora Bayraktar, Head of the Strategic Communication and Crisis Management Department at the Directorate of Communications, said, "Türkiye is sharing its expertise and experience with friendly countries in the Balkans in the age of digital communication. It combats threats such as disinformation and digital inequity."
In his speech, Mürteza Sulooca, the Owner of Yeni Balkan Publishing House and Editor-in-Chief of Yeni Balkan Newspaper, emphasised that digital media is gradually shifting from being an opportunity to becoming a significant threat to the unity of humanity, nations, and peoples, as well as their religious values, traditions, and identities.
Senad Omersević, the Editor-in-Chief of Hayat TV, stated, "It is in our hands to create a media landscape that promotes truth, dialogue, and cooperation," while Ercan Kasap, the President of the Kosovo Turkish Journalists Association and Editor-in-Chief of Kosovaport, said, "The race to be the first to break the news is violating journalistic principles, impoverishing the content of the news, and consequently depriving citizens of the details of events."
Müzekki Ahmet, the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Kırcaali Haber Newspaper, said, "The historical and cultural ties between Türkiye and the Balkan countries create a strong ground for interaction in the field of media and communication, both on a symbolic and practical level."
