The Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change, will organise a comprehensive environmental and climate media tour on 9–11 May 2026. Following the first media tour held in İstanbul and Kocaeli on 27–29 March 2026, the second leg of the programme will take place in Hatay and İstanbul.
The “Road to COP31: Sustainable Future International Media Programme”, aimed at raising international media awareness ahead of the COP31 Summit to be hosted by Türkiye in November, will bring together 17 foreign media representatives from 11 countries, including the United Kingdom, Hungary, Spain, South Korea, Italy, Serbia, Morocco, Montenegro, North Macedonia, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), and Azerbaijan.
Through the programme, members of the international media will be introduced to Türkiye’s environmental and climate policies, its sustainable development vision, and domestically developed technologies in this field. Türkiye’s efforts to combat climate change, its pioneering environmental management practices, and its scientific research infrastructure will also be showcased to a global audience.
As part of the media tour, participants will first conduct a field visit within the scope of the “Türkiye’s Road to COP31: Resilient Cities Programme” in Hatay. Following the visit, they will meet Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change and COP31 President-Designate. During the programme, media representatives will be briefed on the COP31 process, which is being shaped around the principles of dialogue, action, and consensus, with the aim of contributing to a fairer, more inclusive, and more effective global order.
On the final day of the programme, participants will visit the İstanbul Indoor Vertical Farming R&D Center, the world’s second-deepest production facility of its kind, where they will receive information on sustainability and digital transformation in agriculture. Participants will also visit the environmental awareness truck organised as part of the Green Campus Festival, held by the Türkiye Environment Agency under the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change with the aim of raising environmental awareness among young people.
Within the scope of the environmental and climate media tours, four additional press tours are planned prior to the COP31 Summit.
