A press briefing was held under the coordination of our Directorate’s Konya Regional Directorate for the International Commemoration Ceremony of the 752nd Anniversary of Rumi’s Reunion.

The briefing, held at the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Stone Building Culture and Arts Centre (Taş Bina Kültür ve Sanat Merkezi), was attended by Konya Governor İbrahim Akın; Acting Mayor of the Metropolitan Municipality Mustafa Uzbaş; Director General of Fine Arts at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism Ömer Faruk Belviranlı; and Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Fikret Fidan.

Speaking at the briefing held to review the preparations in Konya for the International Commemoration Ceremony (Şeb-i Arus), Konya Governor İbrahim Akın stated that the city has entered these exceptional days with great care and thorough preparation.

Governor Akın noted that Konya is preparing to welcome visitors from across Türkiye and around the world between December 7 and 17, stating, ''Under the leadership of our Ministry of Culture and Tourism, our metropolitan municipality, district municipalities, universities, public institutions, NGOs, and volunteers are working in complete harmony. From transportation and security to accommodation, cultural events, promotion, and guidance services, we have addressed every detail with the prudence befitting this outstanding heritage and have completed our preparations. Rumi’s universal call is an invitation that embraces all humanity. Peace, which is this year’s theme, together with love, compassion, tolerance, and the culture of coexistence, constitutes the essence of these ceremonies and showcases Konya to the world as a 'city of peace and heart'.''

Governor Akın expressed his hope that the ceremonies would strengthen the atmosphere of unity, brotherhood, and peace both in the city and in people’s hearts. He thanked all stakeholders who contributed to the process, saying, "I extend my gratitude to all our institutions, organisations, and partners who devoted their efforts to the preparation process, as well as to the esteemed members of the press who have worked diligently to convey our events to the world. I invite all devotees of Rumi—from across Türkiye and around the world—along with our fellow residents of Konya, to all the events we will host as part of the International Commemoration Ceremony of the 752nd Anniversary of Rumi’s Reunion.''
