As part of the working visit by officials of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Azərbaycan Respublikasının Əmək və Əhalinin Sosial Müdafiəsi Nazirliyi) to Türkiye, a comprehensive evaluation meeting was held at the Directorate of Communications in the fields of press, public relations, and strategic communication.
During the meeting, where the reflections of the strong cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the field of communication were discussed, the Azerbaijani delegation was informed about the duties and responsibilities of the Directorate of Communications, its institutional structure, and the activities it carries out at national and international levels. In the programme, the operation and implementation principles of the State Information System (DES), which ensures the effective management of information flow among public institutions, were explained in detail. In addition, information was provided on the citizen-oriented service approach of the Presidency's Communication Centre (CİMER), its application processes, and its institutional structure.
The meeting also addressed public diplomacy activities, strategic communication practices, communication management during crises, mechanisms developed to combat disinformation, corporate social media management within the digital media ecosystem, and efforts to ensure that accurate and reliable information is effectively conveyed to the public. The initiatives implemented by the Directorate of Communications in these areas were shared with the Azerbaijani delegation, facilitating mutual knowledge and experience exchange.
The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Fazil Talibov, the Head of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry. The Directorate of Communications was represented by Head of the Press and Publications Department, Dr Zeynep Zelan; Head of the Public Relations Department, Durmuş Ersoy; Head of the Strategic Communication and Crisis Management Department, Kasım İleri; and Corporate Communication Coordinator, Sümeyra Değirmenci.
At the meeting, the contributions made by the strategic partnership between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, which has developed on the basis of the ‘one nation, two states’ principle, to strengthening cooperation in the fields of communication and the media were also discussed. The parties exchanged views on developing areas of cooperation, particularly in corporate communications, public diplomacy, and information sharing.
The programme continued with the Azerbaijani delegation's visit to the museum and library within the Directorate of Communications. The visit concluded with expressions of goodwill regarding the continuation of cooperation between the two institutions in the field of communication in the coming period, through the exchange of mutual experiences and joint projects.
