Photography exhibitions have been opened in Gaziantep and Malatya to mark 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day.
At the “15 July Memory and Remembrance Photo Exhibition” opened by the Directorate of Communications at Gaziantep Airport, Mücahit Taşkın, Regional Manager of the Directorate of Communications in Gaziantep, provided visitors with information about the photographs.
Governor Kemal Çeber, Mayor of Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Fatma Şahin, Mayor of Şahinbey Municipality Mehmet Tahmazoğlu, and fellow citizens attended the inauguration.
Displaying images to recount the events of the coup attempt by FETO on 15 July 2016, as well as the nation’s determination to defend democracy and the national will in unity and solidarity with the state in this struggle, the exhibition will remain open to visitors until 24 July.
In addition, “Victory of Democracy: Group Exhibition of Paintings and Photographs” has opened at Malatya Park Shopping Centre.
Alongside various works of art, the exhibition featured photographs of the martyrs and veterans of 15 July, as well as the people of Malatya who flocked to the squares on the night of the coup attempt.
Speaking at the launch of the exhibition, Governor Seddar Yavuz said that FETO’s coup attempt on 15 July 2016 had been thwarted thanks to the nation’s resolute stance.
Yavuz said, “Our beloved martyrs sacrificed their bodies and lives to defend our star-and-crescent flag, our independence and our democracy. Today, on its 10th anniversary, I want to reiterate that the FETO terrorist organisation and other terrorist groups have no place in our country, and that this nation’s determination and resolve to live freely and independently are stronger than ever.”
Governor Yavuz invited all residents of Malatya to attend the events to be held tomorrow at 9.00 pm at the 100th Year City Park to mark 15 July Democracy and National Unity Day.
Metropolitan Mayor Sami Er, Commander of the 2nd Army Lieutenant General Zorlu Topaloğlu and other members of the official delegation attended the programme, which featured a mini-concert by students from Abdulkadir Eriş School of Fine Arts. The exhibition will be open to visitors for two days.
