Fourth International Climate Media Tour to Be Held in İstanbul and Muğla as Part of COP31

The Presidency’s Directorate of Communications and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change will organise the fourth in a series of environment and climate media tours in İstanbul and Muğla on 13–16 October.

As part of the international media programme titled “Towards COP31: A Sustainable Future”, organised in the run-up to COP31, which Türkiye will host in November, 20 foreign journalists invited from 15 countries, namely the United States, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Portugal, Brazil, South Korea, Indonesia, Croatia, Lithuania, Serbia, Egypt, Morocco and Bulgaria, will be hosted in Türkiye.

Through the programme, Türkiye’s environmental and climate policies, its vision for sustainability, and its efforts to combat climate change will be presented to members of the international press.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore Türkiye’s practices in zero waste and environmental management first-hand, as well as gain insight into efforts to protect marine ecosystems.

As part of the media tour, participants will first visit the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GİSBİR) in İstanbul. They will be briefed on the activities carried out at the facility and the world’s first electric tugboats before proceeding to Energy Exchange İstanbul (EPİAŞ).

There, journalists will be informed about efforts to promote the wider use of renewable energy sources in electricity generation and consumption and to protect the environment.

The final stop of the programme in İstanbul will be the Zero Waste Foundation, where participants will receive information on activities undertaken as part of the Zero Waste Project, launched under the auspices of First Lady Emine Erdoğan.

During the Muğla leg of the programme, participants will have the opportunity to see first-hand the work being undertaken as part of the Mooring Buoy Project, an environmentally friendly mooring infrastructure initiative implemented by the Türkiye Environment Agency to protect sensitive seabed ecosystems and seagrass meadows in the bays of Fethiye and Göcek.
