A flag-raising ceremony was held prior to the 43rd Turkish Day Parade, which is to take place tomorrow in New York City under the auspices of the Directorate of Communications and coordinated by the Federation of Turkish-American Associations (TADF).
Türkiye's Consul General in New York, Muhittin Ahmet Yazal, along with numerous Turkish citizens and representatives of Turkish schools, associations, and non-governmental organisations, attended the flag-raising ceremony at Bowling Green Park on Wall Street.
At the ceremony, following a moment of silence and brief speeches, the Turkish flag was raised to the mast amid great jubilation at the renowned financial centre.
Following the flag-raising ceremony, the janissary band affiliated with the Ministry of National Defence performed for the participants.
The 43rd Turkish Day Parade, which originated in 1981 in response to the assassination of Turkish diplomats in the US by the Armenian terrorist organisation ASALA and has been held annually since then, will take place tomorrow in New York this year.
As part of the Turkish Day Parade, the janissary band will perform Turkish marches along the parade route. As part of the programme, renowned names from Turkish music will also take the stage at Madison Square Park.
The events aim to offer a rich experience that reflects Türkiye’s historical and cultural heritage.
