The fourth episode of the “Crafting Voices: Podcasts on Migration and Communication” series, prepared within the framework of the Voice of Migration: Future Communicators Erasmus+ project, coordinated by our Directorate, has been released.
The guest of this episode, titled “Youth Sector in Bulgaria: The Voice of Solidarity,” is Dr Nikola Zhivkov, a lawyer, mediator, and youth policy expert from Bulgaria.
The podcast discusses the role of young communicators in today’s public debates on migration and evaluates how responsible, informed communication can contribute to developing a more balanced, multidimensional perspective in these discussions.
The episode also addresses widespread misconceptions and harmful stereotypes surrounding migration, how traditional and social media shape young people’s perceptions of migration, the key competencies young communicators should possess in this field, and ways to make the complex legal and political dimensions of migration more understandable for young audiences. In addition, the roles of youth NGOs, civil society organisations, and non-formal education in raising awareness about migration are examined.
The Crafting Voices podcast series aims to bring together experts from the fields of migration and communication to provide young communicators with new perspectives on media literacy, ethical journalism, and inclusive communication.
