The Disinformation Bulletin prepared by our Directorate's Center for Countering Disinformation dated February 23, 2024 has been released.
According to the bulletin, the claim made at the Munich Security Conference by Israeli President Isaac Herzog that "This is the book 'The End of the Jews' found by one of our soldiers in Gaza. It was written by senior Hamas leader Mahmoud al-Zahar" is false.
"Research reveals that the book was written in the 1990s by Egyptian author Abu Al Fida Muhammad Aref and published in two countries other than Palestine. It has been confirmed that the book has nothing to do with Hamas or the Palestinian issue, as previously claimed," the bulletin stated.
In the bulletin, it was also specified that the claim made through multiple images uploaded on social media accounts with the description "Shell fragments from Turkish-made missiles used by the Israeli army in the Shujaiyye neighbourhood of Gaza" is false.
"With regard to the defence industry, Türkiye and Israel do not engage in ammunition trade, whether direct or indirect. It is unclear whether what is shown in the image in question is a part of any ammunition at all. Furthermore, the Turkish defence industry does not use the term "made by" for branding, " the bulletin noted.
