The session "Communication-based Preventive Approaches in the Fight Against Drugs" was held at the “Secure Türkiye: A Resolute State in the Fight Against Drugs Panel" conducted in the conference hall of Our Directorate.
In the session moderated by TRT News Anchor Esra Kaya, President of Üsküdar University Prof Nevzat Tarhan emphasised that establishing meaningful relationships through social support and communication helps in protecting against addictions.
Vice President of İstinye University Prof Peyami Çelikcan emphasised the importance of communication within the family in his speech and mentioned the necessity of planning media-free hours to make it effective.
Another speaker, Assoc. Prof. İzlem Vural, Faculty Member at Anadolu University's Faculty of Communication Sciences , stated, "Private broadcasting organisations have important roles in the fight against drugs. The most powerful preventive actor in this fight is the media." Assoc. Prof Zeynep Esra Abay Çelik, Faculty Member at the University of Health Sciences, Hamidiye Vocational School of Health Services , underlined that when familial communication is not maintained in a healthy manner, the child tends to compensate by seeking fulfilment in other contexts.
