Awards presented in Infographic Competition on “The History of Genocides in the World and Gaza”

The award ceremony for the infographic competition themed “The History of Genocides in the World and Gaza,” organised in cooperation between our Directorate and Yozgat Bozok University, was held.

Speaking at the ceremony held at the Erdoğan Akdağ Congress and Culture Centre, the Rector of Yozgat Bozok University, Prof. Evren Yaşar, stated that the aim of the competition was to remind society of what has been forgotten, make the unseen visible, and refresh collective memory in order to prevent history from repeating itself.

Prof. Yaşar thanked the organising committee, jury members, and stakeholders who contributed to the event, and congratulated the young participants as well as the award recipients.

As part of the programme, a panel moderated by former Chief Ombudsman Şeref Malkoç was held with the participation of Assoc. Prof. Ömer Gedik, Rapporteur at the Constitutional Court and Director of the Research Centre for Constitutional Justice; Dr. Yakup Levent Korkut, faculty member at the Faculty of Law of Medipol University; and Yahya Kurtkaya from the Foreign News Department of TRT Haber (News) Coordination Office.

The panellists provided students with information on genocides that have taken place around the world and Gaza.

Following the speeches, awards were presented to the winners by Governor Mehmet Ali Özkan.

In the competition, Yasin Demirci, Senior Graphic Designer at Anadolu Agency, won first place with his work titled “The Rwandan Genocide”; Deniz Yılmaz placed second with the work “Hiroshima and Nagasaki”; and Bedirhan Demirel, Assistant Graphic Designer at Anadolu Agency, won third place with the work titled “The Circassian Genocide of 1864.”

The programme also featured the exhibition “War-Themed Photographs,” prepared by Anadolu Agency.
