The Directorate of Communications held the "Türkiye-China Media Forum" in the Conference Hall.
In addition to the Presidency's Head of Communications, Fahrettin Altun, China's Ambassador to Ankara, Jiang, representatives of institutions and organisations in the field of media and communications, and numerous guests attended the forum.
Head of Communications Altun delivered the opening address of the Türkiye-China Media Forum, during which the session "A Strategic Partnership in the Emerging Global Communication Architecture: Türkiye-China" explored opportunities for strategic collaboration in the media.
Moderated by Prof Fırat Purtaş, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University, the session "A Strategic Partnership in the Emerging Global Communication Architecture: Türkiye-China" featured a range of speakers, including Havva Hümeyra Şahin Oktay (PhD), Member of the Cultural and Art Policies Board of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye; Shou Huiseng (PhD), Director of the Turkish Studies Centre at Beijing Language and Culture University; Meng Madelyn Song, Deputy Secretary General of the China Association of Trade in Services; and Vasfiye Gökçe İnce, Head of the Department of Marketing and Communication at the Directorate General for Promotion of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Shou, Director of the Turkish Studies Centre at Beijing Language and Culture University, noted during his address that Turkish academics and students are becoming more interested in China.
Shou expressed great pleasure in participating in the forum, emphasising how the world is navigating a critical era and that, for this reason, the partnership between the two countries has become even more vital in today's fragmented information landscape.
Noting the significance of Türkiye's assistance to neighbouring countries and its support for China's development, Shou underscored the necessity for a new global communication order and the importance of "building bridges through narratives."
Shou noted that the two countries have made significant efforts toward regional stability and peace, stating, "The media plays a vital diplomatic role by highlighting common values, fostering goodwill, and offering a soft infrastructure for a strategic partnership."
Praise for Türkiye's TV series exports
Meng, Deputy Secretary General of the China Association of Trade in Services, expressed her pleasure at taking part in the forum and stated that conversing with the Turkish people "opened the door to a new world" for her.
Meng stated that Türkiye and China have had similar experiences abroad in the field of cultural export, noting that Türkiye has gained worldwide recognition through its long-form television series.
Highlighting the growing popularity of Chinese series across the world, Meng noted that Türkiye, after the US, ranks as the world's second-largest exporter of television series.
