“10th Anniversary of 15 of July: Victory of Democracy" panel was held at the conference hall of the Presidency's Directorate of Communications.
Addressing the panel, Deputy Head of Communications Giray Şahin underlined the words of İsmail Kahraman, 27th Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, on the night of 15 July: "I cannot be someone who abandons the ship; I will proceed to open the Parliament!"
Noting that when President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called on the people to take to the streets, members of Parliament also rushed to the Parliament from their respective provinces, met with their group deputy chairpersons, and made their stance clear, Şahin continued his remarks:
"After then-Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım called the people to the streets, FETO encountered an unexpected resistance. They had infiltrated the judiciary, the police force, and the National Intelligence Agency. They contemplated that in the aftermath of staging a coup, they would dominate state institutions with ease. However, thankfully, they failed to do so.
Pointing out that the Directorate of Communications produced works to document and showcase this treachery, Şahin said, "We have compiled that night's chronology together with the documents and photographs in the book 'There Is No Power Greater Than the Power of the People"
Stressing that utmost effort had been made to establish a framework that would pass the 15 July Epic, Memory and Resistance book on to new generations by conveying it to the young generation at events to be held in each of our 81 provinces, Giray Şahin said, "This year, with the slogan 'Victory of Democracy', I would like to state that we will organise countless events with our public institutions, municipalities, and non-governmental organisations. I once again commemorate our beloved martyrs with mercy and respect."

Nations that preserve their memory build their future on solid foundations. Understanding 15 July correctly, conveying it accurately, and passing it on to future generations is an inseparable part of our responsibility to safeguard our democracy, our national will and our shared future.
