World leaders and experts gather in İstanbul for STRATCOM Summit (hayat.ba)

World leaders, diplomats, and experts will gather in İstanbul later this month for the STRATCOM Summit, an important international forum organised by the Directorate of Communications of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye. The summit will take place on 27-28 March, at a time when geopolitical tensions are escalating, and global crises are rapidly evolving.

The STRATCOM Summit, to be held over two days, aims to bring together heads of state, ministers, policymakers, and scholars to explore the future of the international order, strategic communication, and the management of rising global concerns.

The summit will begin with a high-level session to be attended by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, along with many senior diplomats.

The first day will focus on how strategic communication is shaping the evolving global order. The flagship panel titled “A New Framework for the Global Order” will be moderated by Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organisation of Turkic States. Representatives from Azerbaijan, Syria, Bangladesh, and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will participate in the session to discuss shifting power dynamics and the role of communication in shaping international narratives.

Subsequent sessions of the summit will address leadership diplomacy and mediation efforts. Participants from Qatar, Libya, and Egypt will share their views on conflict resolution and regional diplomacy.

As part of its broader agenda, the summit will also address climate diplomacy and the digital transformation of public opinion. In a dedicated session, Prof Ramon Salaverria from the University of Navarra will discuss global climate governance and communication strategies.

The first day of the summit will conclude with discussions on what many observers describe as a growing crisis of legitimacy and trust in international institutions, along with a panel examining the intersection of women’s issues, migration, and social policies.

The second day will begin with a speech by Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan.  This will be followed by a panel focused on Iran and regional security, as well as sessions addressing what participants describe as the “new normal” in global governance, characterised by ongoing crises and instability.

Taking place amid rising geopolitical tensions, the STRATCOM Summit is expected to serve as an important platform for dialogue on the role of communication in managing crises and challenges shaping the global order, as well as in advancing international cooperation.
