Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye, Fatih Dönmez, stated that natural gas shipments from Sakarya Gas Field would begin at the end of April.
Minister Dönmez visited Filyos Natural Gas Processing Plant and stated that some of the personnel working there were from Kahramanmaraş, where the devastating earthquake occurred, and that the work could not be completed within the previously determined timetable.
Pointing out that the 6 February earthquakes affected Türkiye entirely, Dönmez said, “For all of us, saving and supporting our citizens is more important than any project. All forces were dispatched to the disaster area. Some of the employees have returned to their workplaces. Therefore, natural gas shipments will begin toward the end of April.”
Minister Dönmez stated that the collection of legal documents required for the operation of the Türkiye natural gas distribution centre would be completed soon and added, “Work is still ongoing. We intend to have the centre fully operational by the end of the year. Some legislative changes are required. This issue will be placed on the agenda of the Parliament soon.”
