Türkiye makes breakthrough in 5th Generation fighter jet

The first prototype of Türkiye's fifth-generation fighter jet has completed engine testing approximately one month ahead of schedule.

Initiated in 2010, the TF-X fighter jet program is Türkiye's largest and most technologically advanced defence program to date.

Beginning in 2030, Türkiye intends to acquire domestically produced and developed fighter aircraft.

While the first prototype's engine assembly was completed on December 15, 2022, the prototype is scheduled to depart the hangar on March 18 to conduct testing, including ground tests for two years. In 2029, the aircraft will be officially transferred to the Turkish Air Force.

In 2023, the Turkish government decided to continue increasing its defence and security budget.

A significant number of Turkish technology companies are also developing flight control and sensor systems.
