President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of the Republic of Türkiye has called for stepping up efforts to create a common Turkic alphabet.
Speaking at the 12th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organisation of Turkic States held in Azerbaijan, Erdoğan said, “We must step up the process of establishing a common Turkic alphabet.''
Erdoğan stated that, along with the works of Chingiz Aitmatov, Oğuzname has also been published using the common Turkic alphabet and that each leader would receive a copy of these publications today, adding, “I propose that December 15 be celebrated as the World Turkic Language Day''.
