After the disaster in which tens of thousands of people lost their lives in Türkiye and Syria, the Vienna administration expressed its condolences to the earthquake victims
Due to the catastrophic earthquake in Türkiye and Syria, Vienna Municipality’s Executive City Councillor for Education, Youth, Integration and Transparency, Christoph Wiederkehr (NEOS Party), invited representatives of Turkish, Kurdish and Syrian aid initiatives to the City Hall to exchange ideas earlier this week. A respectful discussion took place with the associations and organizations present at the meeting, where they were appreciated.
Great Sorrow and Solidarity
Most of the people of Turkish and Syrian origin living in Austria lost family members, acquaintances and friends in the earthquake zone. The event, which took place in the Wappensaal hall of the Vienna City Hall, was clearly marked by sadness and solidarity.
In addition to the Vienna Municipality, which supported the earthquake relief of the federal states with 429 thousand euros, many Turkish and Syrian associations and private initiatives based in Vienna took action immediately, collecting donations and launching wonderful aid initiatives.
