Designs prepared by fashion designer Zeynep Kartal together with Syrian refugee women were presented in London with the support of Turkish Presidency’s Directorate of Communications.
The designs prepared by designer Zeynep Kartal, together with Syrian women refugees living in Turkey, were presented at a special event organized within the framework of London Fashion Week in London Presentation Studio on February 16, 2019, at 20:00 London time.
With the support of the Turkish Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, fashion designer Zeynep Kartal gathered with the Syrian women, who fled the war and took refuge in Turkey, at the ateliers in Istanbul and prepared new designs to be exhibited at London Fashion Week. Thus, the designs produced in collaboration were presented to the international fashion lovers’ acclaim, for the first time in the world, at London Fashion Week. Fashion lovers showed great interest in the fashion show which was also viewed by Turkey's Ambassador to London Ümit Yalçın. There were 15 designs in Kartal’s autumn winter collection, which were prepared from fabric woven with the contribution of Syrian refugee women in Turkey.
Presidency’s Communications Director Prof. Fahrettin Altun shared the fashion show from his Twitter account. In his tweet, Altun said: "With the support of Presidency's Directorate of Communications, designs co-created by fashion designer Zeynep Kartal and the Syrian women who fled from war, are showcased at London Fashion Week. Turkey, the largest refugee hosting country in the world, provides hope for the downtrodden.”
