President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the academic year 2025-2026 at Beştepe Nation’s Convention and Culture Center.
“We are very pleased about the agreement to which we have actively contributed”
Voicing his pleasure over the good news coming from Sharm El Sheikh the previous night and today, President Erdoğan said: “As you know, we have been making intensive efforts for the termination of the bloodshed and the establishment of peace in Gaza. Firstly, we held a meeting on Gaza at the United Nations General Assembly in New York with the participation of Mr. Trump as well. After that during our visit to Washington D.C. we once again discussed Gaza with Mr. Trump and his delegation at the White House. Later on, Mr. Trump announced a 20-point peace plan, and Hamas said that they were ready for negotiations. And after the agreement yesterday, thanks be to Allah, the signatures have been put today. We are very pleased about the agreement to which we have actively contributed since the very beginning. From now on it is very important that the urgent delivery of comprehensive humanitarian aids to Gaza, the exchange of hostages and prisoners, the immediate termination of Israel’s attacks and the withdrawal of Israel to the determined area are ensured.”
“Türkiye will be in the task force that will follow the implementation of the agreement”
Stressing that they will meticulously follow the to-the-letter implementation of the clauses agreed on, President Erdoğan said: “We as Türkiye will inshallah be in the task force that will follow the implementation of the agreement on the ground. We will support the reconstruction activities to revive Gaza together with the international community. We aim for the termination of the genocide and the immediate establishment of peace in the region. Our Gazan brothers and sisters are the people that deserves calm, peace and security the most in the world.”
Underscoring that they will do whatever is necessary in order for the smiles on the Palestinian innocents, children in particular, to not disappear ever again, President Erdoğan thanked President Trump of the U.S. who has displayed a strong will in urging the Israeli government for ceasefire, and added: “Likewise, I extend my gratitude to Qatar and Egypt, which have significantly contributed to the agreement. I wholeheartedly congratulate the Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas on their sagacious and wise attitude.”
“I hereby once again salute with respect our Palestinian brothers and sisters, who have not made even the slightest concession on their firm and sagacious stance despite all the barbarity, oppression, massacre and genocide they have been faced with for two years. Türkiye, just like yesterday, will stand by the Palestinian people today and tomorrow as well, and will never leave them alone. May my Lord render the agreement auspicious for the Palestinian people. And I wish Allah’s mercy to our over 67 thousand martyrs.”
“We need to find ways to attract more qualified students to our country”
“We work in a determined manner to build a bright future inspired by the past, and to further raise the level Türkiye has reached in higher education,” President Erdoğan stated, and noted: “We act in a brand-new vision in every area, from technical and physical infrastructure to education cadre, from curriculum to dormitory and accommodation facilities.”
Drawing attention to the importance of the accurate determination of purposes and targets in international student policies and the ensuring of harmony and coordination among institutions, President Erdoğan said that the interest in universities, from the Turkic world to Africa, the Balkans to Latin America, and from the Middle East to the Southern Asia, has been increasing, and added: “We need to find ways to attract more qualified students to our country.”
