“We will work with all our strength to make the upcoming period the Century of the Turkic World”

Addressing the 11th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), President Erdoğan said: “I wholeheartedly believe that the decisions we will take here today to achieve the targets we have set with the Turkic World Vision 2040 will once again prove to the whole world the advanced level the unity of ideals among us has reached.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made a speech at the 11th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organization of Turkic States held with the theme of “Empowering the Turkic World: Economic Integration, Sustainable Development, Digital Future, and Security for All.”

“THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY IS FAILING TO STOP THE GENOCIDE IN PALESTINE”

Noting that the gates of peace and stability are now open in the Southern Caucasus following a 30-year-long period of conflicts and instability, President Erdoğan said: “We hope and expect that the historical achievements that the brotherly Azerbaijan has attained upon sacrificing martyrs in the Patriotic War will be solidified at the table by signing a peace agreement. The international community is failing badly in stopping the genocide occurring in the occupied Palestinian territories, notably in Gaza. The United Nations Security Council, tasked with safeguarding international peace and security, is even incapable of convening to reach a decision. To be more correct, it is unwilling to do so.”

Describing Israel’s attacks on Lebanon and Iran as a manifestation of the Israeli government’s intention to spread the bloodshed across the region, President Erdoğan pointed out that nearly 3 thousand people have been killed and over 1.5 million others displaced over the past year in Lebanon.

Stressing that about 50 thousand innocent people have been murdered in Gaza, President Erdoğan said: “As Türkiye, we do not accept this atrocity and inhuman massacre. Both at bilateral and multilateral platforms, we are exerting every effort in our power to stop Israel and establish a permanent peace based on a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, with East al-Quds as its capital. I believe the Turkic world should adopt a decisive stance as well.”

“THE TURKIC WORLD HAS IMPORTANT RESPONSIBILITIES ON THE CYPRUS ISSUE”

Expressing his happiness to see President Ersin Tatar of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in Bishkek after in Shusha, President Erdoğan went onto say: “The Turkic world has important responsibilities to reach a fair and lasting solution in the Cyprus issue based on the facts on the Island. The more we embrace and promote the rightful cause of the Turkish Cypriots, the more we strengthen our unity and solidarity. The TRNC’s participation in today’s OTS summit as a guest of honor and observer member reflects the Turkic world’s will to stand in solidarity with the Turkish Cypriots. We hope to see them among us a full member as soon as possible. Likewise, I would like to reiterate our wish to see Turkmenistan, too, as a full member of our family assembly.”

“DIPLOMATIC EFFORTS FOR PEACE SHOULD BE SUPPORTED”

Noting that the war in Ukraine, which is about to complete its third year, continues to have negative impacts on the region, President Erdoğan stated: “Since the very beginning of the war, we have supported a negation process, whereby both of the sides are present at the table and which leads to a lasting and just peace. I am of the opinion that it is of critical importance for us as the Turkic states to support diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring peace.”

Stressing that the stability and security of the region cannot be viewed as independent of the developments in Afghanistan, President Erdoğan expressed solidarity with the brotherly Afghan people and added that the interim administration’s adoption of an inclusive approach based on fundamental human rights would open new gates.

Highlighting the Turkic world’s potential to take major steps in various fields, President Erdoğan said: “It would be beneficial to engage in activities that would unleash our potential in areas such as science, energy and transportation, particularly in trade and economy. I am pleased that the negotiations regarding the Partnership Agreement on Digital Economy, one of the elements of our Vision 2040, have been completed. Also, I am confident that the Turkic Investment Fund, which we launched last year, will soon be activated and contribute to our projects. In energy, we should step up our cooperation with the aim of reducing our dependency on a single resource and boosting our investments in renewable energy. Concerning transportation, we should seize the opportunities offered by the Middle Corridor project.”

“THE CONSENSUS REACHED ON THE COMMON TURKIC ALPHABET IS A HISTORIC DECISION”

Praising the consensus on the Common Turkic Alphabet Project reached during the Common Alphabet Commission Meeting in Baku last September as a historic decision, President Erdoğan noted that member states of the OTS should implement the necessary transformation for the adoption of the 34-letter common Turkic alphabet, and added: “Türkiye, Azerbaijan and the TRNC are ready on this issue. It would also be appropriate for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan to take the initiative to begin transitioning to the new alphabet.”

“I wholeheartedly believe that the decisions we will take here today to achieve the targets we have set with the Turkic World Vision 2040 will once again prove to the whole world the advanced level the unity of ideals among us has reached,” underscored President Erdoğan, and added: “We have come to this day by overcoming obstacles, but we still have a long way to go. We will continue to work with all our strength to make the upcoming period the Century of the Turkic World. May Allah be with us. As I conclude my remarks with these thoughts, I would like to extend my gratitude to the President of Kyrgyzstan, my esteemed brother Mr. Japarov, for his kind and sincere hospitality.”

Following the summit, President Erdoğan attended the luncheon President Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan hosted in honor of the participating heads of state and government.
